Do you think you have grasp of the server-side technology(ies)? Have you worked in a server-side tool significantly? Do you want to spread your knowledge to fellow developers? If yes, you could contribute your writings to Active Server Corner. Your contributions will not only help many developers, managers and beginners, but also could make you popular! Active Server Corner is a noted resource and a good place to showcase your writing talents. Send your writings to submissions@kamath.com

WHAT YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE...

We accept various forms of writings that are related to server-side web technologies. While the categories for these submissions are described below, they are by no means the only categories we accept. Also, a piece of writing can belong to more than one category in which case we will decide the column where the writing will appear.

  • Essays: These are writings in general about a technology or a part of it. The essays do not contain any code or contain little code to illustrate the concept.

  • Example code: This can be in the form of a tutorial (a detailed how-to article) or simply a page of code with proper documentation.

  • Tips: These are smaller articles, with or without code.

  • Reviews: Typically books or products, the reviews have to be more than just "Great book."

  • Case studies: Case studies have an impact on not just developers but also decision-makers. Please make sure you are not breaking any non-disclosure agreements by submitting them.

  • Opinions: Yes, they count. If you have a opinion on any web-related issue, write an in-depth article about it!

  • Events: Any industry related events, these submissions do not carry any incentives

INCENTIVES

Apart from your work becoming public and you becoming popular, we like to reward our contributors. We do not follow a "popularity scale," judging by the number of hits, to reward our contributors. This way, we encourage anyone - beginner or an expert, to contribute to the site. Also, since we pick only the best of submissions, we are confident each one of the articles we accept are equally popular.

The following is the current fee structure for contributions. The fee structure is on a per contribution basis. For example, if you contributed one item toward CodeLibrary section, and we accepted your contribution for publishing, we would pay you a one-time fee of $10.

Apart from the fee we pay for your contributions, we will also include your bio in your article. You may also use us as a reference in your resumes.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • HTML format preferred: Please try to send us your writings in HTML format. As HTML is pretty much universal, we don't have to go through the extra step of converting the document into HTML. Also, formatting your HTML document to the site standard format is easier than converting from any other format.

  • Writing style: There is no standard writing style for the site, you can choose to write in your own. While we prefer lighter styles, essays usually tend to be on a serious tone. If you have any questions, send us in your writing and we will suggest any modifications to the style or the tone. A suggestion for all writers - Write in an authoritative tone to make the biggest impact while keeping the style light.

  • Length: We do not want to publish books! Please keep the articles to about 4-5 pages length. Lengthier writings may be published in parts.

  • Contact us before you write: If you haven't written the material, please contact us at submissions@kamath.com before you write with a brief description of what you'd like to write.

  • References: If you have borrowed the concept from any other source than yourself, please include references to such sources. If the original source is under a copyright agreement, please forward any note that permits to use such a source in your work.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • The material you submit will undergo a review before we publish it on the site. Although we love to have as many people write for us, we also like to maintain the quality of material we publish.

  • You, as the author of your work, will hold the copyright to your work. You are merely giving us your permission to publish your work. By submitting your work, you give us the permission to use it on our site for a unlimited time, in any form.

  • It is upto the author of the document to verify that the work is his/her own and does not breach any copyright or non-disclosure agreements. We will not be responsible for any disputes arising out violations of such agreements.
